UNETHICAL MARKETING

Have you ever seen commercials in television who prove that they will make you fair in 14 days????
i believe this is something unethical that they are doing ...though they have targeted the segment pretty well and understood the consumer behaviour ..still i believe that the way they promote their product is not good...they make the consumers believe that they will get results within few days which no one gets.,..its just a way to market their product....but just for gaining profit how can they play with emotions of people ??? i believe legal action against these products should be taken so that in future they don’t fool around with public......same goes with other products also such as shampoos ,hair oils etc ... and these products also sustain in market “coz some or the other person might use it for the first time ,,,,can we say it is unethical MARKETING?????????

  1. Nice post Gagan.. but i don't agree with you on the point you say it the UNETHICAL MARKETING.. what i think we just can't set benchmarks for such kind of marketing to distinguish it between being ethical or unethical.. and if we talk about playing with the emotions of the consumers.. whatever results or outcomes companies display for their products, they all are tested and verified by standard measures. If a motor company is showing in their ads that the motorcycle will give an average of 80 Km/Lt. It's the result in standard conditions. Right.. same is in the case of such beauty products also.. if they say it can make a person fair in 14 days.. it will.. provided that the product is being used as per the standards.
And finally if u start taking actions against such sort of promotions.. I am sorry but i think then our Indian jails would be half filled by marketers only .. just make me remember of one very famous quote i heard for the very first time for such bunch of people.. ALL MARKETERS ARE LIARS.. :)
Finally to conclude.. i may be wrong on what i say.. but that is something what i feel.. no offense please.. :)
    Nice post.. Keep sharing

  2. dear ketan
i appreciate ur comments.. but there's a difference between a motor cycle and a facial cream.. and what standards are u talking in facial creams?? can u please elaborate more on that ????? and tell me 1 single person who got fair by using this product ??? and this is not the only product i am talking about there are several other products who claim to be useful but are not.... i know marketers r liars and there can be a healthy debate on this topic...but i wanted you to understand the context in which i have written this post...
    no offences... :)

    ur comments r always welcomed

  3. hey nice topic gagan.. but i don think it is as "unethical" as u term it to be... these ads r jus to gain attention.. if one co. tells that u can get results in 14 days, the other co. comes up with an ad stating their product will gove results in 12 days...but the thing is, most of the users do see a difference after using the product[if not as much as they expected]..it might be psychological as well[like, consumers think "i am using XYZ product, so i am getting fairer day by day"] so nobody goes n sues the co. for not getting them the expected results..i believe it is not unethical, but ya the ads are exaggerated!!!!!
